Q&A
Answers to your most frequently asked questions
What differentiates an ENT from a general practitioner?
In Quebec, a general practitioner is a medical professional who treats a wide variety of health problems, ranging from common ailments to chronic illnesses. It provides front-line health care, carries out routine consultations and can refer patients to specialists, such as ENT specialists. On the other hand, an Otolaryngologist (ENT), such as Dr. Souaid, is a doctor specializing in diseases of the ear, nose and throat. They have undergone extensive training in ENT and are experts in diagnosing and treating disorders specific to these areas, such as ear infections, throat problems, hearing disorders, and many others . Additionally, an ENT can also perform surgical procedures related to these areas.
What are the waiting times in the public and private sectors?
Waiting times to consult an Otolaryngologist (ENT) in Quebec vary considerably depending on the healthcare sector, public or private. In the public sector, delays can sometimes exceed two years due to high demand and limited resources. However, at ExcelleMD, lead times are generally much shorter, with availability for appointments every two weeks in normal times.
Do I need a reference to meet the ENT at ExcelleMD?
No, you don’t need a request/reference to make an appointment with our ENT. Simply contact us and make an appointment.
