What are neuromodulators?

Learn more about botulinum toxin

Botox is a natural protein-like substance that acts as a relaxant on motor nerves to reduce the contractility of a muscle. It can also be used to treat dyshidrosis or hyperhidrosis by blocking the muscles surrounding the sweat glands.

How does it work?

Injection is a non-surgical procedure performed by a healthcare professional. Botulinum toxin is injected under the skin’s surface in order to relax targeted muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The product is injected in small doses, assessed by the doctor based on the targeted area, desired result, and the patient’s metabolism.

Injection is effective on expression lines, also known as dynamic wrinkles, as it prevents the targeted muscles from contracting to minimize the appearance of wrinkles. This results in a fresher and smoother-looking skin.

2. Appointment at the clinic

During the first meeting with the healthcare professional, they will assess your health and the strength of your muscles by asking you to make various facial expressions such as frowning, raising your eyebrows, smiling strongly, and squinting. Taking photos will also help to better target the areas to be treated and to see the improvement following the treatment. The professional will also take the time to determine the future injection points using a makeup pencil.

Before starting the injections, our professional will clean the face to minimize the risk of infection following the treatment. A neuromodulator injection session only lasts a few minutes. The professional will guide themselves using the marking points and assess the amount of product needed to reach your goals.

3. Following the visit

After a procedure, the patient can resume these activities and the results will appear in the next 2 or 3 days; their maximum effect will be present within 7 to 10 days. The effects of the injections then last between 3 and 6 months depending on the patients, the areas treated, and the quantities used.

Following your injection session, a member of our team will follow up with you by phone to ensure your satisfaction and answer your questions.
